A Magnificent Project

My mass communications class was asked to make an autobiography for Mark Lipton. Not the regular kind of autobiography that everyone knows how to do, but an autobiography that was slightly tweaked. Mark wanted us to show how we interpret the media and what kind of role it plays in our lives. I've already talked about other people's projects so now I'm going to talk about my own. I made a video simply because it was the easiest and most efficient way to describe how I feel about the media. Everybody I talked to was pretty worried about the project. I was only worried the day of the presentations and I still didn't have my write up done. I had fun making this project because I love to make short videos. I assumed everyone would be doing either a PowerPoint or cutting and pasting pictures, which turned out to be wrong, so I wanted to do something a little bit different. In high school, all I did for presentations were PowerPoints because they were so easy to do and the teachers encouraged us to do them. I wanted to get away from them in university because they are really "high schoolish". I'd rather make a video, put on a skit, or interview people. It is more enjoyable to the audience and it is a lot more creative than making yet another PowerPoint. My video was pretty simple and straight forward. In the first half I just showed how a lot of other people view the media, that it is turning into something horrible. In the second half of the video I showed how I view the media by pointing out four main areas: politics, comedy, women, and violence. These are the four best parts about the media although I'm sure some people would disagree. I used the song American Idiot by Greenday in the background because it talks about the media and how we are affected by it.
