A Little Bit of Everything

Today was the fourth class of mass communications and we did, like the title says, a little bit of everything. First we watched some of the image curation videos. They were all really well done. My group's curation was the first one we watched which was good for me. Normally if I don't go first and I see someone else's presentation which differs from mine, I get nervous because I start to think I made it wrong. This is a problem I have been trying to correct since high school. Luckily it is almost totally fixed now because I know that no matter what the assignment is, everyone has their own way of doing it. I have begun to learn this but I still get nervous so I check with other people to see what they are doing before finishing my presentation. Not to be conceited but I didn't like any of the curations that were shown after mine as much as I liked mine.
After we got through those, the head of media, Jael Richardson, came in to talk to us about the program and branching off into our specialties. The specialty I am going to go into is journalism. Ever since I saw the show Everybody Loves Raymond I have wanted to be a sports writer. My goal is to one day get an article published, and eventually be a full time writer for Sports Illustrated Magazine. That is my dream job because it I would look forward to going into work and it is something I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. The coordinator from the writing centre came in as well and told us what we can get help with there. I though he was kind of strange but creative at the same time because he had brought pillows with him that were in the shape of a comma and a period. At first I thought he was strange because I didn't know where he was going with it, but it turned out to be a really creative idea.
The final item on the agenda was getting back the autobiography written part. I got mine back and was pleased with my creative mark but I was a little bit weary about my writing mark. I am going to read over the written section, see what I could have improved, and write Mark an email if I feel I should have gotten a better mark.
